Car chase near Ayia Napa

POLICE are investigating reports of five Turkish Cypriots who said they were chased and attacked early Friday while in their car in the Famagusta district by three men in another car.

Two of the Turkish Cypriots were slightly injured.

Police said that the five, aged 25, reported that at around 4.30am while on the road in the Sotira farm area, near Ayia Napa, they realised they were being chased by another vehicle.

They tried to escape by increasing their speed, but near Frenaros, the other vehicle rear ended their car, damaging it. The chase went on and, according to their report, the other vehicle that was after them, blocked their way forcing the Turkish Cypriots’ car to stop.

Three men holding bats, exited the car and attacked them. The Turkish Cypriots managed to evade their attackers and called the police.

Two Turkish Cypriots were slightly injured, and were taken to Famagusta general hospital where they were treated for their wounds and discharged.
